If you are interested in joining the ubix group as a PhD or MMath* student, please fill out this form… depending on your responses, Matt will reach out to schedule an interview.
The ubix group welcomes those who identify with groups whose perspectives, cultures, and experiences are under-represented in computer science and the technology industry, as well as members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ communities.
If you are a prospective graduate student, you should also submit an application via this application link and make sure to indicate that you want to work with Matt Brehmer on your application… you can also refer to these frequently asked questions about the application process.
If you are an undergraduate student, there are several ways to work with the group:
…if you are currently a University of Waterloo Computer Science undergraduate student, there are part-time paid opportunities to work with me through the Undergraduate Research Assistant (URA) program… you can also do complete an (unpaid) CS 499T honours thesis project under matt’s supervision.
…if you are a University of Waterloo undergraduate student in the Math Faculty, the Mathematics Undergraduate Research Awards (MURA) program supports full-time research projects.
…if you are an undergraduate student at any postsecondary institution in Canada, there are full-time paid opportunities to work with me via the Undergraduate Research Fellowship (URF) and the NSERC USRA program.
…if you are a senior undergraduate student at a postsecondary institution outside of Canada, the Mitacs Globalink program provides funding to work in Canada for as summer research intern.
(*) Exceptional international students should apply directly to the PhD program… Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) are encouraged to apply to either the PhD or MMath program.
